ISKCON Chennai invites one and all to celebrate Sri Krishna Janmashtami by visiting the Sri Sri Radha Krishna temple at Akkarai, Sholinganallur (off ECR) on 19th August 2022, Friday. The festival this year is marked with the 125th anniversary of ISKCON founder Acharya His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
 
On the 19th, darshan of Sri Sri Radha Krishna will commence at 8.30am. Throughout the day, there will be bhajans and kirtan. Facility to offer archana to the Lord is available in the temple from 9am to 10pm. Visitors will also be able to swing Balagopala on the cradle. At 10.30pm, the beautiful abhishek of Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishna Chandravali will commence.  Arati will be performed at midnight marking the appearance of Lord Krishna 5000 years ago.
 
Celebrations are promising to be very grand and joyful this year as the temple is opening to the public for this festival after two years of pandemic lock down. Anticipating a large number of visitors, arrangements have been made for smooth darshan.
 
Various exhibits and stalls are being set up to give a memorable experience to visitors of all age groups such as children, youth and adults. There are games and quizzes, gifts and prizes, QA booth, Gita course etc.
 
The Suddha Sattva Restaurant has organised a novel treat called ‘A Glimpse of Vrindavana’ – a buffet to relish the tastes from the land of Vraja – from 18th to 21st.
 
On the 20th, ISKCON observes the completion of the 125th appearance day of its founder Acharya His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada. Various events were held all over the world last year including the release of a commemorative silver coin by Indian Prime Minister Sri Narendra Modi.
 
The children wing of ISKCON Chennai, which conducts weekly spiritual classes for children, is launching its website www.goibooks.club containing various materials for children value education such as stories, slokas, bhajans, rhymes, art and craft in pdf, audios and videos.
